A Fork in the Road

After teaching for 5 years in the Ga Lottery Pre-K program I have decided it is time to spread my wings. I graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2008 with my Bachelor's degree and began teaching the following school year. In 2010, I applied to Walden University to pursue my Master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Unfortunately, I have not graduated. Shortly after I began my Master's program I found out I was pregnant with my 4th child, a GIRL, and I had a very hard time completing my thesis paper. My graduation date was set at the end of my pregnancy and I was overwhelmed. Looking back at my choice to not stress about the paper I regret it, but that is water under the bridge now. So here I am now, still teaching but my school that I am at lost its owner and the bank is running us now. Well the Pre-K program doesn't like that so who knows how long I will have a job...

Currently, I am applying to the county school system for a teaching job for the next school year. I am praying daily that I will be chosen for an interview and have the opportunity to show the Principal's how good I am!

Have you ever had to make a choice to change your career and not know what to do? I would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

I am back!!!

Hello! I am back!!!! I have had a crazy few years and I was lost, but no worries I have found my way back to my creative side!!! Well since I have been gone my baby girl has been born and turned 1! She is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me! I love my 3 boys but a daughter is so much more!

Mikaela Elizabeth
She was named after my GG Elizabeth Moorhead

Having 4 children is a lot of work! I am still teaching full time and have become a runner's mom. My oldest son, Alex, has decided he loves to run! This past fall he joined the Cherokee Junior Warriors Cross Country team and placed 2nd on his team for the season. Woot-Woot! One proud mom! Well it's Spring and he wants to go out for Track for Cherokee Junior Warriors. I'm really excited! I have to admit the time I spent with Alex at practice and races has built our relationship stronger. I look forward to our time together.

Now for the other two Monkey's in my life... they are growing up way too fast! Logan is in the 3rd grade and Aiden is 3yrs. old! The two of them are in the phase of 'I love you' to 'Get away from me'. Yep it's a lot of fun here! Either way they are great big brother's to their baby sister! Logan has taken a break from sports for a while and is focusing on school. He is making all A's!!! Aiden has become the tech savvy child using our Iphones, Ipads, and Kindle. I am really impressed by his ability to figure out these devices. He is preparing for Pre-K next year and I can't believe he is old enough!

We have even expanded our family! We adopted another kitten for Logan over this past Thanksgiving. Introducing Blue Steinbach!!!

I am very thankful for everything and everyone in my life and look forward to many new adventures ahead! Keep your eyes open for a new post A Fork in the Road.

Creative side coming back out! Crib mobile I am making for Baby Girl!

I want to thank my sister over at The Adventures of Shaw for bringing my creative juices back to life. Kelley has created her own blog where she is sewing, designing a baby room, and just plain creative. I have decided to demonstrate my ideas of upcoming projects for my Baby Girl due in November. My sister and I are both pregnant at the same time, also the first time together, and due two months apart. Kelley is going the wait and see route for the baby gender where I found out that I am finally having my baby GIRL!!! After having three boys we are very blessed to have our girl. No Name yet!

Onto my crib mobile that I am making for Baby Girl. I found the tutorial on the blog For the love of polka dots where it details step by step how to make a ribbon mobile to hang above the crib for baby! See the picture below!

I am excited to take on this challenge and I will document my progress with pictures for an upcoming post! Stay Tuned!

The beginning to my creative side!!!

Erin's Attic

I want to thank my High School friend Erin Podell Bankston for showing me how to let my creative juices flow!!! She takes furniture and refurbishes them. I had two end tables that were my Grandmother's and I loved them but they didn't go along with my living room motif. So I contacted Erin and asked her what are my options? I wanted to keep the style the same because they are a precious memory from my childhood growing up on the Shore. Erin looked at the pieces and decided she could help! She took the legs and added new spindles, sanded the entire table, and painted them a dark chocolate. I collect tiles of the Kokopelli that my mother buys from Arizona. My husband and I have always wanted to create a back splash with the tiles but haven't done that project yet because we want to upgrade our house one day. So, I asked Erin if she could incorporate my tiles into the new design of the tables, and she did! Below are the pre- refurbished tables and then the New tables! Check them out! I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, or comments! Also please check out Erin's Attic for all of her projects she has worked on!
